Writing Goals

You know that feeling of being watched?  You can tell someone's got it out for you.  That's the universe staring at you.  The universe tends to have it out for you.  She likes to interfere with your best-laid plans and your well-intentioned goals.

Like the goal of being done with Oracles Promise before this Saturday.

Not. going. to. happen.

The universe has it out for me.  She threw a killer cold my way and I've been lucky to get from my bed to the couch.  Forget trying to pound out the words that I need to finish before Saturday.  New goal= finish by Christmas.  I'll be lucky if I do, but it at least takes some pressure off.

So sorry you're having all these obstacles. I really hope you manage to get it done before Christmas!

  3. You know, maybe the conspiracy amongst the fates can be turned to your advantage. A few days away from the writing and maybe you'll have fresh eyes or some new ideas.

I understand when you're so close to the end that you just want to get it DONE, but maybe a brief delay will yield good results :)

Take the pressure off yourself... finish it by the end of the year! Then celebrate the completion with a toast on New Year's Eve.

    Cheers, Jill

  4. Sorry you're sick. My obsessive Germ-x-ing and gargling haven't spared me either. Dangit.

  6. The universe is tricky like that, isn't it? When times get really bad I just throw my problems back to the universe and ask it to solve them for me. More often than not I get an answer.

  7. L.T., thanks. It really does feel like someone's got it out for me sometimes.

Roni, no fun. At least it's not H1N1. My mom had that this summer. That is seriously no good.

Jill, ideas aren't the problem. It's the lack of energy to write all the ideas that are in my head for how to finish off this book.

Elana, sorry you're not feeling well.

    Deb, thanks.

Stephanie, I'll have to try that. I just hope the universe doesn't absolutely hate me and make my problems more complicated.

  8. Get better soon. The universe sucks sometimes. I have had words with her on more than one occasion!

  10. I hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself and worry about the word count later.

  12. The beauty about the universe? Time has no end. You'll get it done so don't fret.
