Sorry for neglecting that.
I've made small progress in the current fantasy WiP. This one is switching POVs back and forth, though the female lead is getting more screen time than the male lead. This one's a traditional fantasy set in the same universe as Woven. But it's not tied into the overall storyline Woven is part of.

I still have the cosplay blog over at the cosplaywrite.blogspot.com address. But at least for purposes of blogspot, I'm going to retain some separation. There won't be frequent postings here for now save for WiP Wednesdays to try to keep myself motivated.

I've decided that it's time to retire this particular blog. With a fresh start to my writing career comes a fresh start to the way I approach some of my social media.

Specifically My Mental HealthI may be nearing a point where I'm itching to get back into writing. There's been an occasional urge, but I was so busy getting ready for Salt Lake Comic Con 2014 that I didn't.
But I'm close. I can feel the muse stirring again and asking to get some exercise. Which is a good thing. Keeping her healthy keeps my creativity healthy and keeps things balanced.
So you may someday soon see me Stephanie McGeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00056571020961572031noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2287168903003077619.post-53076453178752815742014-08-26T08:18:00.001-06:002014-08-26T08:18:37.789-06:00Inspiration After Walking AwayIf you follow me on Twitter, you know I've been on inspiration pinning sprees. Why would I do this if I've walked away from writing?Because maybe someday I will come back to writing. It's been a long journey to this point. Five years ago when I sat down and decided to get serious about this writing thing, I was happily oblivious.

I wrote and revised and rewrote my query for Woven several times in the last week. (I even got a critique on it by an awesomely nice real-live agent.) That'll get revised a couple more times in May before I start querying Woven in June.

(I'm still finding my feet in this adult world I've found myself in.) But when I do, I generally come away feeling a mix of super-motivated and overwhelmed-by-my-suckitude.
I shouldn't, but I do.
This past weekend was the annual LDStorymakers conference. I've been to it once before. It's a pretty awesome conference, if I may say so. This first pass was mostly to fox plot inconsistencies, timeline issues, and figure out if certain twists were going to remain in the narrative and as part of the characters.I say it's nearly done because I ended up deleting about 5400 words at the end of the novella. Now, let's be honest. That article title should have rightfully read "10 Male Superheroes Who Need Their Own Movie."
There is not a single female hero to be found in that list. Which got me thinking aStephanie McGeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00056571020961572031noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2287168903003077619.post-58078005696561838282014-03-28T07:00:00.000-06:002014-03-28T07:00:09.698-06:00Movies Based on Video GamesI read an article the other day listing five video games or franchises that are just begging for a movie. The author included The Legend of Zelda. While I would love a Zelda movie, I'm not convinced it should happen.
Probably the best option, the least of all evils should a movie version of any LoZ title be made, is that the game's script writers create a brand new Zelda story and write itStephanie McGeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00056571020961572031noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2287168903003077619.post-35953919474374103712014-03-26T08:21:00.001-06:002014-03-26T08:21:41.310-06:00WiP Wednesday 3/16/14-3/22/14Really, I don't have any wordage to report. I have been letting the superhero novellas sit and stew. A lot.The first one is pretty rough but can be saved without too much aggravation. The series arcs are starting to fall into place and thus the plots of the individual novellas. These stories are definitely off the beaten path for me. Mine are going swimmingly. As are my 2014 Writing Goals

Post with my 2014 Writing Goals and Hopes
Goal #1 was to finish the superhero book by mid-January. Well, by my calculation mid-January hit today.
And I officially wrote "The End" on draft one of the novella on Saturday. The book is rough and would need a lot of Stephanie McGeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00056571020961572031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2287168903003077619.post-72116358399045782722014-01-10T07:00:00.000-07:002014-01-10T07:00:02.379-07:00Books I'm Looking Forward ToThere are a few books this year I'm looking forward to. This list is in no way meant to play favorites or anything. They're just the ones I know are coming out and are already on my radar.
The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan
Hollow City by Ransom Riggs
House of Ivy and Sorrow by Natalie Whipple
Relax, I'm a Ninja by Natalie Whipple
I would love to add more books to this list. That I'll never find a fit for my books.
I've had two friends lose their publishers. One has jumped full steam ahead into self-publishing. Which is great. It fits her books well and she's happy there. I seem to recall not setting any goals this time last year. That's probably why it feels so much like this last year was without accomplishment.
Goals:
1- Finish the superhero book before mid-January
2- Finish my Woven rewrite before February's end at latest
3- Edit Woven to its most polished by mid-April
4- Elevator pitch, query, and synopsis for Woven by Stephanie McGeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00056571020961572031noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2287168903003077619.post-68484289068393152762013-12-30T07:00:00.000-07:002013-12-30T20:49:45.428-07:002013 Books I ReadI read not near as much as I should have this year, but thankfully it was more than nothing. (Though not equal to last year's meager 30 books.)
The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark by Ridley Pearson
Transparent by Natalie Whipple
Mastiff by Tamora Pierce
Transcend by Christine Fonseca
Storm Front by Jim Butcher

Sorry it's been so long. I fear blogging may be losing its steam and edge when it comes to usefulness.
I know I certainly seem to have run out of things to talk about here. But on to the updates.
So, a while back I decided I was through writing. I'd lost the joy in something I'd always loved– reading. I want to reclaim that joy and I'm working on it. I didn't post writing goals at the beginning of the year. Now, I'm posting this list to keep myself accountable.
1- Finish my rewrite of Woven by October's end.
2- Spend October world-building and plotting on a new idea
3- Write said new idea in November (First-ever participation in NaNoWriMo here I come)
4- Revise Woven in December and have it ready for betas in the new year

Recently, Diablo III launched on console in addition to PC/MAC. I haven't played it yet but I kind of want to. But all that contemplating whether to commit to it or not brought up some high school memories.
My brother had Diablo II when I was in high school and he was in college. (We're Stephanie McGeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00056571020961572031noreply@blogger.com3
