WiP Wednesday 8/4

Whew.  What a hectic couple of weeks it's been.

Progress has been made on both Lodestar and my secret project.

I finished my first read-through of the former.  There is a ton of work to do on the book, but it's not near as much as there was with Oracles Promise.  But, maybe I'm just not seeing the work that needs to be done.  Maybe.

The book is both more and less hole-y than I expected.  There are internal inconsistencies that need to be ironed out, but the core is strong.

And the ending left me just as satisfied on reading it as it did when I wrote it.  My chest surged with all sorts of emotions and I felt that the bow was tied neatly, but not too neatly.

As for the secret project, well, the outlining is going slowly but surely.

And I'm beginning to feel that this project is really viable.  It may be one of those projects that I just tinker with while I let others stew, during revisions, etc.

We'll see.

How are your WiPs going?

  1. I took a break from my WIP to write a short story for an anthology call for submissions... I always wait until the last minute to write for them, so I figure, if I do it now I won't be panicking the night before the deadline!

Good luck with the outlining -- I'm not good at outlining, so I admit those who are.

  2. That's great news from your read through! It's always hard for me to decide if the ending is satisfying for me personally or the readers in whole, because I know the ins and outs but readers don't!

Oh yes, stewing a story is also a good thing to do!

  3. I'v actuallyu done some on mine! Got chap 4 finished, completeed chap 5 at a rate of 1k of words a day! and half way through chapter 6. But these next few weeks may prove a big stumbling block. I would have finished chap 6 by now but have been at home for few days so busy with family errands and chores. And then next week I'm going back for a week on my birthday and then we're all away to Dorset for holiday. I am going to take my writing with me though and will just have to see how long hand writing goes. Aim for pages filled instead of word count. But I have a plan B - might treat it as a research holiday too by finally getting my bookwormy teeth into all the factual viking books I have collected but not read. Who knows I might come back as a living factfile on them instead of pretending to be hehehe.

  4. I'm feeling blah about my WIP today. My characters feel flat and one-dimensional (no pun intended). Character development is sooooooooo hard.

  5. Keeping me busy, that's for sure.

Isn't it the best feeling when you read back over what you've written and it puts you right back in that place and you just love it?
