WiP Wednesday 8/11

Remember when I blogged about the plethora of story ideas floating around in my head?

Yeah, well, now I'm juggling 3 projects.

I've finished my first round of revisions on Lodestar.  I'm now experiencing the angsty highs and lows of book love/hate as the feelings alternate.  This baby is ready for betas and has actually been sent off to its first such person.  My brother is the first beta.  He is the first one who will read my darling manuscript.  He's not a writer, but he is a guy.  And I desperately need a male perspective on my main character.  The prologue and first two chapters are off with another beta who graciously agreed to give this novel a whirl.

I think two betas is all I can handle at the moment.  I'm going to be keeping an eye out for other potential betas for later points in the revision process.  The biggest challenge I face is that I'm not writing YA, but most of the blogs I follow, and the authors whom I know best, are.  What's an adult writer to do in a YA world?  LOL

My secret project is coming along more slowly than I would like, but it's still coming.  I'm outlining and who knew that the painstaking detail of this outline would be so slow?  Oh well.  The project still feels viable to me and with some major tweaks to the story running in my head, I'll be all set to outline the three books in the trilogy.  (And maybe it will turn into more books.)

Then there's the third project.  It's an adventure novel.  Highly commercial and comes complete with the idea of making a trilogy out of it.  But it'll be more like the Indiana Jones trilogy where there's a loose connection, mainly the core cast of characters, but each book is self-contained.

It's going to take a lot of work on the world-building end of it all, but I think it'll be worth it.

How are your WiPs going?

  1. My wip is moving way too slow for my liking. I need to focus and really get that thing done! Good luck with yours! You've got a ton going on! I can't wait to hear how it is going. =)

  3. My WiP, called Four has just been posted on its second part. It's a novella, at 2,835 words so far. I'd been procrasting for a bit, and hopefully I'll get it done.

If you want, you can view it yourself at my blog at www.thelunaticsdiary.blogspot.com

  4. Gracious! THREE projects at once? You go for it, lady! Love your tenacity. :)

My WIP could be further along, but I had an "ah-ha" moment and realized I had some plot issues. *sigh* Keep working, keep working, right? LOL

  5. Sounds like you're making lots of progress. I've been at the online WriteOnCon conference this week so am getting no writing and little blog reading in. But it's great. You should check it out. http://writeoncon.com/. Tomorrow is the last day.
