WiP Wednesday 6/30

Where did June go?

I had so many good intentions this month.  I was going to finish my current WiP and be in the let-it-stew phase of writing.

I'm so close.  Yet so far away.

Since my last WiP update post, two weeks ago, this is the progress I've made.

9 out of the last 14 days were a big fat 0 for words added.

Between 6/25 and 6/26 I lost about 350 words because the scene I was writing had gone in a direction that just didn't work.

In the last two weeks I've added 4,277 words to my WiP.

I've moved all plot lines forward and complicated matters greatly for my hero.

My end goal word count for this project is 75K.  I'm just over 63K which leaves me just under 12K to go.  Should be doable in the next couple of weeks, if I stay on top of things like I used to.

Then I will let the book stew and simmer for a month before I jump into revisions.  Meantime I will be reading, researching, world-building, and plotting the next project.

How are your WiPs going?

  1. You can do it!! Mine are going pretty well, I just eek! finished an outline for my current wip and am aiming to have this one done by the end of July and while it stews I've got another couple projects I want to work on.

  2. My WIP is going great. Last week I got a WC of 15k.

I made a blog post yesterday about procrastination if you'd like to read it. :)

  3. Just keep going; you're almost there! Good luck! :D

I actually just finished my MG first draft last week and am starting edits now.

  4. I'm in revisions, and so far it's been kind of slow going. I have to THINK about revisions a lot more than I did the first draft. The first draft was just "get it down get it down get it down," but now I have to go back and actually make sure things work. And when they don't...blah. Good luck to you!

  5. I love reading posts about progress! Good job on moving that WIP forward. I'm not as far along as I'd wanted to be by now, but I did meet a word count milestone. I'm so proud! But only for a split second - because I've miles to go before this sucker's done. Good luck!

  6. Good luck on finishing! That's such a hard spot to be near the end. And the stew-phase is always difficult for me to stay patient through.

  7. Good luck on getting through those last few thousand words! Sounds like it's all going well actually--June is hard month to work in.

I'm going to be querying and working on my next WIP--that's my plan for now!

  8. Mine is not going hot. I'm thinking I may have to cut 5000 words from my first manuscript. I did finish revisions to one chapter of my second.

Lately work & family responsibilities have been taking all my time when I'm alert enough to write. Didn't help that I got sick. And now I have company coming for 10 days. But things will slow down in a few weeks. At least I hope so.
